2000 RAV4 transmission fluid/filter

Anyone here ever change the fluid and filter for one of these trucks?

A friend asked if I could help him out by doing it for him and I said sure why not it cant be too hard.

But I want to know any tips or tricks for the toyota.. I can do mercedes but a toyota I do not know.

Like we discussed yesterday, that not quite a truck.


A truck either has lockers or 4WD, not AWD... This is a tall car.

Those transmissions are rather famous for self destructing if I recall correctly. That's why I never touch them at auction unless its a manual.

My in-laws had an auto one....trans self destructed at around 80k or so. $5000 to replace on the ones with AWD (as theirs was) They promptly sold it and went back to a 98 with a 5speed. Luckily they had warranty.

I've changed the gear oil on a 5speed one, easy.
