Car paint - Original or change color - your thoughts
After some damage, and several replacement parts, I've decided to have the full car (1995 E420) repainted.
Should I keep it the original Desert Sand (we call it Goldie), or should I change it to something else, possibly dark green. The beige interior seems to go with either. I've always pledged to keep the paint color thae same as teh car paint code. But this is a daily driver, which woill never win a concourse. Your thought Original vs new color. I will insist that the color I use will remain a valid year appropriate Mercedes color option.

It would bother me too much to open the hood and see gold while the rest of my car is green, along with under the trunk and the door sills. I say nay.

Keep it original. Going to another color is a vast undertaking if it is to be done properly.

Ah - ythe unpainted
Thanks for reminding me of the engine bay.
I'll never get that repainted and the color should match. Goldie will remain Desert Sand.

IMHO I would never change the color of a car unless it was stripped down to its shell and done right. Seeing the different color under the hood and in the jams would bother me.

Well, it stands to reason that if you get a "quality" respray, that it will coast much less it you stay with the same color. Now if I were going with a nice paint on top of the old color, it would drive me nuts to see that old color whenever I opened the door, trunk or hood. I totally couldn't put up with it.
