And you wonder why they call it, "dope"

Just beggars the imagination don't it?

1 A man was arrested and charged with suspicion of possession of marijuana for sale at 1:08 a.m. Dec. 29 on North Harrison Road and North Catalina Highway after a traffic stop for an expired registration. The deputy smelled marijuana and asked the man about it. He handed the deputy a plastic bag of marijuana and a glass smoking pipe. The man's driver's license had been suspended and he had no proof of insurance, according to the report. Deputies searched the man's car and found two larger plastic bags of marijuana, 21 small plastic bags, a digital scale and a purple cup containing a small amount of marijuana. He was cited on suspicion of driving on a suspended license, having a suspended registration and having no proof of insurance. He was charged with suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and booked into Pima County jail.

Let's see, driving around at 1:00AM in an un-licensed, un-insured car, expired driver's license, smoking dope and carrying a couple of bags of pot. I know we passed the medical marijuana law but home delivery?

New business? "Hey you know, it's 1:00 AM and I got a serious case of the munchies. We oughta order some herb to go with them."

On the plus side, it seems he was at least wearing his seat belt as that is a state law also and he would have been cited for this also.

Did you stop to think that perhaps with volunteering all the info he got in the good graces of the LEO and was not charged with "intent to distribute"- which is by far a more serious crime? He did not resist arrest or attempt to hide the drugs which would have perhaps brought more charges? If you just lit off a joint and get pulled over the LEO is gonna know it and they WILL find your drugs- so might as well make it easy for you and them and maybe- just maybe- they will not charge you with some things they could. I think the guy is not as stupid as you believe, or he's been down this road before and knew the best path to ride on.

Interestingly they didnt mention the $10k they found in the car, probably didnt check it in either.
He tried to get away with handing over what was obvious, they found the quantity when they searched.
Total dope, he will probably be charged with supply just before court. Or maybe he gave up his supplier.

Exactly. He hoped they wouldn't search the car and find the rest of his stash; a calculated move. I wouldn't call him an upstanding citizen for volunteering the first bag and pipe.
