Now wait for the usual suspects to try & politicize this one. It was only a .22, not a hand gun. Maybe too many computer games ?

Tragic.

Secure firearms when children are in the household. Period.

i had a .22 when i was 5 yrs old.i even took it to school for show and tell.you need to be told and taught young to respect guns.as my dad told me back then if you don't plan on shooting it don't be pointing the gun at it loaded or unloaded.society now days would rather keep guns totally away from kids but actually the opposite would probably yield better results.you hear everyday about accidental shooting by kids,if they had been taught how to use and load a gun maybe they would check first to see if it's loaded.beings they were all shot in bed, sounds like this kid had it in for one of em.and the ax was out in the garage, whereas the gun was in his closet.

Sadly, some people are mentally defective. Period.

Remember the story of the scorpion and the turtle in VietNam? Don't ask why, there is no secret truth, it's in the nature of things, know this and act accordingly.

Your 100% correct. In addition, this kid was in control the whole time. its not like he dropped the gun and killed people. He took aim and killed them, then called the cops and surrendered. Seems to me no matter where the guns were, this kid knew what he was doing. If the gun had been locked up, he would have likely unlocked them, or used another method to kill them.

The kid is ether a super wacko nutjob... or maybe there was something going on in that house. Ether way, sounds to me that the kid thought he was in his right mind... thats what makes this so scary.

It's a sad story, the hatred in this kid came from somewhere, either a deranged mind or sick, twisted parents.

Something snapped, as said above either the kid is nuts or his parents have been abusing him for years and he just snapped.

So....deranged, twisted, abusive parent is going to give their [sick, abused, victimized] child a firearm as a birthday present.

Sorry, I don't buy it.

I received my first firearm at 5... .22 and as the years passed I'd get bigger and more powerful rifles from my uncle.

We had rifles and shotguns growing up as well. My point is if the parents were abusing the child - WHY WOULD THY GIVE HIM A GUN??????

Self-preservation would reason against providing the means, no?

The kind of logic simply does not make sense. It is like teaching a kid to drive and they would never get into an accident, getting them to drink and they would never get drunk. I can go on and on... This kid should be put away and throw the key away.

Guns should be banned or at least restricted. The chance of being knifed and survived is far greater then being shot and survived.
