Sharks primarily hunt and feed at night I thought. The lights on the board could form an additional attraction. Many people are lost to sharks around that island group in daytime and declared swimming accidents I thought.

Wow that's nuts!
Wouldn't the lights attract sharks?

I don't know if it would attract sharks directly but it would certainly bring them in to the squid and baitfish that would be attracted. We used to use a squid jig at night to catch squid for bait for tuna. They'd be attracted to the light from the tower lights. The sand sharks would be cruising through looking for a highlighted meal.

That dude is insane! I went scuba diving at night once and can't say I enjoyed it much. It was mostly just to prove to myself that I could do it. Same thing with jumping out of a perfectly good airplane, although at least I could see the ground rapidly approaching! I would love to party with that guy!
