Fewer Listening to Talking Heads

Sorry, not about the band . . .

Glenn Beck's Fox News Network show has posted the steepest ratings decline for any cable TV news program, averaging 1.8 million viewers this January, down 39 percent from January of 2010. The decline among viewers aged 25 to 54 was an even free fall, 48 percent, to 397,000. Beck peaked at 2.8 million viewers in 2009, with more people tuning in than the combined audience of his competitors

Despite this drop, Fox News is still far ahead in the ratings with MSNBC a distant second, and once dominant CNN trailing the field.

"On the Record with Greta," part of Fox News' evening lineup, had 1.5 million viewers, down 36 percent from a year ago, with 333,000 25-to-54 viewers for a decline of 49 per cent.

"Anderson Cooper 360," on CNN, had 595,000 viewers, down 34 percent, with only 174,000 25-to-54 viewers for a decline of 43 percent.

CNN's "Parker Spitzer" had an audience of 478,000 viewers, down 39 percent from last year when Campbell Brown was hosting at the same hour.

Maybe there's hope for America.

Maybe not . . . here's the list of the top 10 Cable Shows for the last half of January 2010 . . .

1. "Jersey Shore" (Thursday, 10 p.m.), MTV, 6.23 million homes, 8.83 million viewers.

2. "Pawn Stars" (Monday, 10:30 p.m.), History, 4.98 million homes, 6.98 million viewers.

3. "Pawn Stars" (Monday, 10 p.m.), History, 4.71 million homes, 6.74 million viewers.

4. "SpongeBob SquarePants" (Saturday, 11 a.m.), Nickelodeon, 4.37 million homes, 6.55 million viewers.

5. "American Pickers" (Monday, 9 p.m.), History, 4.29 million homes, 6.19 million viewers.

6. "SpongeBob SquarePants" (Saturday, 10:30 a.m.), Nickelodeon, 4.27 million homes, 6.52 million viewers.

7. "SpongeBob SquarePants" (Saturday, 11:30 a.m.), Nickelodeon, 3.937 million homes, 5.76 million viewers.

8. "SpongeBob SquarePants" (Saturday, 10 a.m.), Nickelodeon, 3.93 million homes, 5.97 million viewers.

9. "SpongeBob SquarePants" (Friday, 8 p.m.), Nickelodeon, 3.83 million homes, 6 million viewers.

10. "State of the Union: Republican Response" (Tuesday, 10:25 p.m.), Fox News Channel, 3.76 million homes, 5.28 million viewers.

Amazing a show like Jersey shore is that popular.

History channel has to be very pleased with themselves right now. Pickers and Pawn Stars is a great lineup, and the production cost I imagine is next to nothing.

I had no idea that Academy Award Winner, Ernest Borgnine, was on Spongebob.

Unfortunately next to TGUSA

They've also started making a whole new lineup of modern marvels which IMO has always been an awesome show even if the last 2 I've seen were dirt, and grease lol

In my wifes class the only thing the kids seem to talk about is Jersey Shore. Appears to be the only cultural commonality amongst them. Isn't it about sluts ****ing in Jersey?

Pffft...You're not grasping the concept. It's about sluts getting drunk, fighting and THEN ****ing in Jersey.

Last season was set in Miami Beach I understand. Next year they're off to bella Italia for the season's shooting. Good freakin riddance.
Did ya see the news clip of Sen Schumer passing Snooki in the airport in DC the other day. Needless to say, she had noooo clue who he was.

I know I'll get flamed for saying this, but there really should be some minimum political knowledge in order to cast a vote. I mean, a lot of young voting age adults couldn't pass a US citizenship test. You at least ought to be able to pass that to vote.

If you don't put out an album in years, how are you to get more listeners?

I must say that I really did enjoy "True Stories" though.

There you go

I would imagine that the Dailyshow combined with word of mouth helped contribute to that decline.

If you really have to waste time watching TV, SpongeBob SquarePants appears to be the best choice of the shows listed.
