Seems like the wrong person died here
The reports said Hena was raped by her 40-year-old relative Mahbub on Sunday. Next day, a fatwa was announced at a village arbitration that she must be given 100 lashes. She fell unconscious after nearly 80 lashes
http://www.thedailystar.net/newDesign/news-details.php?nid=172669  What kind of planet are these asshats living on? This is extreme even for the middle ages, much less 2011. Why would anyone tolerate living under such a system? I just dont understand why the human rights people of the free world, esp the feminists never say much about this horrific behaviour... |

I agree with you utterly. There is a saying in Islam: "When a man and a woman are together, a third person is present. The DEVIL." |
National Organization For Women's Archive Relating to Violence Against Women
NOW, while primarily an American organization, it has taken positions on international issues. However, you can see from its archive that there appear to be more than enough domestic issues, ranging from sexual abuse in the military, on college campuses, etc. to monopolize their time and efforts here in the US. Perhaps if you gave generously to their cause . . . |

BTW, is it my message you find abhorent, or are just having fun? I dont see where any civilized person could not be outraged by this. I truly see very little said and even less done about this sort of inhumanity. |
If you examine the part of your post that I quoted, I think you'll see what part of the post I took issue with, so I responded with what I thought was a reasoned response to that last sentence.

Sorry to say it ....but.... she was G U I L T Y !!
Guilty that is under S H A R I A law... the core element of Islam. Anyone wonder why I am so opposed to them ? |
One more very good reason to keep religion as far away from government as possible.

I can't speak on this topic, because I received an infraction. I stand by my previous statement.

I'm about halfway through Ayaan Hirsi Ali's most recent book, Nomad. It's a sad tale. For reasons which are not entirely clear, she was able to escape that culture and adopt a way of life independent of oppressive religion. The rest of her family suffered terribly within the cultural constraints that Ali escaped.
Maybe the second half of the book will provide some optimism but it seems like it is a very steep uphill slog against our male dominant chimpanzee heritage to modern cultures of freedom. |
