Window tinting, 30 or 35% ??

I'm having the windows tinted in the 76 300D on Saturday. I don't know if I should do 30 or 35% all the way around...

Anyone have any pictures of 30% tint? There are lots of pictures of 35% on the web, cant find much on 30% though...

Thanks in advance

Stewart

I would go darker. If 30% is the darkest your willing to go, thats what you should go for. A lighter tint always leaves the owner slightly unhappy.

You getting precuts and DIY, or are you having a shop do it? A shop usually has to stay within legal limits if your paying with anything except cash, and expect a recite...

Keep in mind to go with polarized tint as well.

I'm about to get my FG tinted. What kind of tint will cool it down the most? AC has a hard time keeping up driving into the sun in the afternoon since the windshield is so huge.

I was in traffic court a few years ago waiting for a case to be called. There was a state trooper ahead of me. He had several cases on the docket for illegal tinting. He would eyeball the cars and make his own determination about whether the tinting was darker than permitted by state law. If he thought it was too dark, he pulled over the car and tested the tinting with a light meter. Some of the defendants were acquitted on the illegal tinting charge, but they were all subject to a traffic stop and all the things that go along with that. Kind of scary.

On my wagon, I have my rears tinted at 20% and fronts tinted at 35%. The C43 is getting the same done. It works great at keeping the heat down and bright light out.

I would suggest talking to your installer, and asking them to provide samples of each opactiy level. My installer had all of his shop windows tinted in different opacities so you could get an idea of what each opacity looked like.

3M, Sun-Tek, and Huper Optik make excellent tint. There are other companies out there, but beware, as they turn purple after a few years of sunlight.

My friend got out of it by getting a letter from his employer saying he had to transport patients with sensitive eyes. Now I guess since their is a "medical" reason from a Doctor he can do as dark as he wants.

Total BS but that's the benefit for working for a huge hospital and having a boss who is cool.
