Mom's getting a Mog for her Runway

My mom works for the Air Force (shes a civilian) and is the civil engineer in charge of maintaining the runways on her base. Shes is going to test a new runway cleaning system. Next week shes getting 2 of these UNIMOG powered pressure washers that clean the runway. the owner of the company is coming from Germany to deliver the system to the USAF, and my mom

I told her to take the owner out to dinner and get him a Shiner Bock for me Shes in San Antonio, thus my Texas beer of choice!
Also told her to take lots of pics!

Here is the info on her new equipment.

Interesting...so it's basically a very power pressure washer for stripping paint or clearing things like rocks or whatever metal bits manage to get onto a runways surface?

Are they actually going to use Unimogs though?

Yep getting the Mogs. Its a test program between the company and the AF. The company is delivering the whole system from Germany. Now they chemically clean the runway. If this works as well as they hope they will get adopted by other bases. She gets them next week. so more info to come!

My dad said the same thing... "when are they gonna get rid of them?"

I wonder how these Mogs will differ from the US spec models that Freightliner sold a few years ago....

I thought MB stopped selling Mogs in the US because of emissions regulation issues. How are these getting in?

I guess the only way to get around government regulations, is to be the government

Maybe they could make them in the ML plant you have there.

I guess to put one on the road you could buy a wreak & transplant everything between the license plates.

Stripping the rubber deposits off the landing area so the jets don't hydroplane. That whiff of smoke on touchdown is laying a skidmark that gets mighty slippery.

Rocks and metal bits are done by more traditional street sweepers.

Randolph or Lackland/Kelly? I'm guessing Lackland with the heavies and the desire to not chemically clean the runway near the creeks.

I imagine power washing will pull up parts of the paving too, resulting in more holes to be filled.
