Showing off our new dog

Her name is Lacie and she was born last Sept. She has got to be one of the smartest dogs I've ever had the opportunity to train.

We picked up a 4 wk old black lab this past weekend. Dogs love it here.

Wow she looks very clever - even in a photo - what sort of temperament does she have?

Nice dog, Jim! I wonder if a dog can be trained to alert you to rattlesnakes when you're out on the property? Might be worth having a dog afterall, when I move to the country one of these days.

Beautiful dog. Congrats on the lab as well!! I had a lab mix as a child and he was my bet friend.

My wife and I are currently looking for a miniature schnauzer. Maybe I'll start a new thread...

Nice dog engatwork! I LOVE labs!

sfloriII: Grew up with Minature Schnauzers in our family. Totally cool dogs and they don't shed...but they bark at nearly EVERYTHING when outside!

My 2 go crazy if there is a snake in the yard. They dont try and attack it, just bark until I get there with the shovel. Nothing like a good head ache for the snake. It then gets put out under a tree while its still moving so the kookaburras can get it. Snakes are their preferred diet. They swoop down and grab them normally by the tail & then fly past branches so the snake gets a broken neck as its head hits them.

When I noticed scorpions about my home, I was glad I had a housecat. She would fixate on any 'intruders,' so I knew something was about because of her behavior. Cinderella (my housecat) also fixed on assorted reptiles moving outside the sliding glass great room door - again, alerting you because of her behavior. She would mutter by extended gutteral sounds with her lower jaw pulsing when she was fixated on prey.

The scorpions freaked me out, but they're common in this region.
