got a new cell phone...

The guy who had it before must have been a piece of work...I have gotten calls from itt technical school asking if he is ready to start classes, naughty pictures from several buddies of his, one of whom refused to believe that I was not his friend Curt, and most ominously, a voice mail "from your lawyer's office"...turned out to be a criminal defense firm, so Curt must have been in some sort of trouble.

I wonder how long a number is allowed to be dormant before it is reissued for use?

Dave! Good to hear from ya! Haven't seen a post from you in awhile. How's everything going?

I tried to call you but all I got was a "curt" reply.

Neat, I have never ran into this since I have had my same number for 10 years.

5 minutes.

I have a throw-away Tracfone that I got for about $8 (after rebates, gift card) for 6 months of service and 130 minutes of airtime.

Everyday at about 2PM I get a call from a computer for "Justin". If I try to pick up the call, of course, I use minutes and there doesn't seem to be a way to tell the computer that I'm not "Justin" so leave me the hell alone.

It pisses me off, but I'm not going to do anything about it since I paid nothing for the phone and I really just want it to call out on basically.

I have had the same issues on a couple of MetroPCS phones and had to switch numbers (at my cost) too

If you can find out his last name from one of the callers, you can do a name search (if it's not too common) with the Missouri Courts here:

https://www.courts.mo.gov/casenet/base/welcome.do

Also, use searches, Google, Yahoo, etc. and run your phone number to see what else pops up. CL is another good tool for obtaining more background info.

Well I keep getting calls for a local casino. My mobile number has a lot of repetitive digist in it. Turns out one of those repetitive digits changed to one other one in the sequence is the phone number for the casino. I stopped answering calls from numbers I don't recognize. It seems to go in streaks. I'll get 3-5 calls in one week and then go a couple months without any. Seems to be less calls since the economy has been on the down-swing.

When I first got the number I kept having this guy text me asking if I was coming to (insert city name) for the weekend. No naughty pics. Maybe that makes up for the other troubles for you.

I just hope you've completely sterilized the phone!! Who knows what it came in contact with.
