Battery Stuck in Maglite
The battery leaked and probably swelled before that. I have used baking soda and vinegar in cycles... nothing.
I need mechanical forces. Anyone opposed to me drilling it out? |
Oh, sorry.
AA the top where the bulb socket is does not appear to be removable without damage. |
I had this happen on a d-cell. The fun part was that the batteries had corroded the aluminum tube, making it very difficult to push the batteries out.

ugh. I think I can already see that has happened along the edges. |
Unless you have sentimental value attached . . . get a new one.
|
Pretty much.
|
The flashlight was made in the USA, but likely killed by a Duracell made abroad.

You could summarize the entire global agenda with that allegory... ..but I'll try to keep this about the silly Maglite (tm). |
Smash it against concrete.

I have a Maglite on my desk with this exact problem, also an AA 2 cell. I was kind of upset because it was the flashlight that lived in the benz... then on black Friday I got a 3 cell D battery LED Maglite for 14.99 at Lowes. problem solved, and now I can hit people with it, since its the larger size :)
I'm going to try and keep this one in the car, and change the batteries as part of the cars maintenance, swap them out every year or so weather then need it or not, that way I don't kill another one. |
I have a nasty habit of using flashlights as a final drain cycle on old batteries... I am sure this is a direct cause. Sounds like you have a good plan.
I already drilled out the center, I would still have to peel the battery walls off the inside of the flashlight cavity... they are totally fused to the aluminum. So... how's that new one workin? Quote:

Easy way to remember . . . every birthday, routinely inspect and change flashlight, camera, smoke detector, remote controls . . .

what a morose birthday you must have. |
I got it out.
SirNik, If you want to salvage your maglite: remove the lens head, remove bulb, remove plastic disk that says : "DO NOT REMOVE". find a mandrel / dowel that fits the inner diameter of the aluminum housing underneath the disk. Drive the mandrel through in the direction that would force the battery out. viola. Maglite saved. |
On the contrary, I feel quite energized.
