Rumor: $5 gas this summer

Given the latest events in the middle-East it seems likely... what do you think?!

$8 seems more realistic.

Seems like a bubble though, aren't fuel stocks increasing?

Great just when the economy is starting to turn around it gets to die again, fantastic.

I would not mind it so much if I had some mass transit here in DFW. Unfortunately that does not exist except with in Dallas or Fort Worth. Nothing in the middle where I live. So cities like this will be hardest hit.

I saw a gas station today with $3.79/gal diesel. Luckily, against a gas car with 28mpg average gas mileage, diesel would have to be $1.06 higher a gallon for me to start losing out.

here's one of the main reasons:

Brent crude had breached $119 a barrel during a period of frantic trading around 0745 GMT as industrial needs were hedged and traders exploited an explosion of upside momentum

So, around Labor Day, let's say that gas is $10 a gallon. What's your plan? BTW, don't count on petroleum-fueled public transportation services to hold their current fare prices under those circumstances.

I live less than 5 miles from where I work, I will pedal. Groceries are a bit farther out, but I'll be ok, just no more Sunday drives.
