Preserving my schip.
My dad and I built this boat when I was six years on a vacation in Sweden in the seventies. Brought it back home from Holland to the US last November; I just noticed that the bottom of the boat starts to fall apart, it go's slowly but every day there is more wood dust around the boat. Are there any oils or other materials to rejuvenate the wood or maybe something to seal it from further decay. The wood is dry as a bone, would love to preserve it for the next generation.

We use this epoxy extensively in historic restoration projects. It is thin enough that it can be injected.

There are liquid epoxy materials designed to preserve bad wood. That wood looks seriously rotted. I suppose it was that way when you started with it right? If it is decaying worse lately it might have termites in it.
Cool looking boat. Cool story. Good luck with it.

How does it look when dried, would I still see the wood?

Absolutely, the epoxy is clear, it will put a bit of a shine if it gets on the exterior. We use a 20 gauge needle (needles and syringes available through farm supply houses). Drill holes so that needle fits snugly, depending upon the extent of the decay the epoxy will soak into the surrounding fiber and stabilize the wood without compromising the look. Could also be powder post beetles but I wouldn't think any insects will tackle the epoxy.

Any resin will make the wood appear a little darker.
