One side effect in the San Francisco Bay area is that the local area car dealers are now worried about whether or not they can get any more made in Japan cars shipped to the West coast dealers now.

Beyond that, if they did, there could be a worry that customers would not buy them any more either.

They might worry that they would GLOW IN THE DARK.

(The story was the lead article on the front page of the business section of yesterdays's San Francisco Chronicle but I can't print any of the text here or I could get banned under the newly amended forum rules, but the link to the paper is www.sfgate.com if anyone wants to search for the full article.)

I have been following Reuter's Live Blog and BBC Live feed for the past 4 days. And it seems we always arrive at the same point each night; bad news. So much uncertainty.

In reduced levels (they say)..

On the news today it said that radiation already has hit the Aleutian Islands in Alaska.

The entire California coast is gonna get a nice leetle dose of Tojo's revenge this afternoon.

Sumnabeech !!

J. Frank Parnell:

"Ever felt you mind starting to erode? Ever been to Utah?

Ra-di-a-tion.

Yes, indeed. You hear the most outrageous lies about it. Half-baked goggle-box do-gooders telling everybody it's bad for you.

Pernicious nonsense. Everybody could stand a hundred chest X-rays a year. They ought to have them, too."

Let's consider a day in the life of a Japanese citizen in the areas affected by the quake/tsunami AND within the path of a fallout plume. No home, erratic food and water availability, concern over disease caused by unsanitary health conditions, inhalation of air that may glow in the dark, no income...pretty rough circumstances...
