Libyan No Fly Zone

Its being put together now. I would like to offer my ideas on this.

Put together all intell on Ghadaffi, his sons, his loyalists..everyone connected with him, and his military apparatus.

Locate every palace, safehouse, hideout etc..

Send the jets there, light each and every one of them up.

Continue doing this until they have all been exterminated.

Open the gates to Libya's military weapons and put them into the hands of the rebels.

Stand back and watch them hunt down the remaining Ghadaffi loyalist's.

Do not let the opportunity to grease Ghadaffi slip by, like OBL, Saddam, and have to hunt them later.

Please excuse me if I sound harsh, but I feel this is the only way to deal with that murderous maniac.

Chilcutt~

No really...what do you truly think?

The only problem with that is that if the tables were reversed that is what HE would do.

The US meddled in Iraq. Overall the Islamic/Muslim/Arab world didn't care for that. So to what extent has changed, that the I/M/A approves of intervention? Other countries might want to get a taste of blood themselves. See how they deal with body bags comming to their towns. Usually, I am hawkish. I do think the US could back door some aid. Still, look at Afgahnistan. Maybe the IMA could declare a Jihad on one of its own.

The Arabs are sanctioning intervention because they realise it is time for change. I dont care if jihad is issued, what Grand Poobah they have to channel it thru. I dont care if they bring Sirhan Sirhan out of seclusion, and re-activate him for the mission. Grease Ghadaffi while he is in the cross-hairs, let every brutal dictatorship know they are on the list. And let the Taliban/Al-Qaeda know they are next. Run them all down like the dogs they are.

There is enough history of Ghadaffi & what he does.
Maybe chilcutt has different motivations to some of us. He may have religious brothers being persecuted by Ghadaffi.
I see that there are some of the M.E. nations supporting the no fly zone.
The one concern is if it is too little too late. It may just prolong the blood letting.
Unlike else where, there is a opposition in this case. Once he & his mates are gone, there is leadership in waiting.
As to how well they are organized, time will tell.
At least they started a civil war, unlike one of its nearby countries.

I have some long time friends in the USA who found them self mixed up in the mess in Libya when he first got nasty. One of my friends is considered a wanted man in Libya, he was caught with a can of root beer (cola) extract in his baggage. He flew out soon after on the Exxon plane. That was just before Ghadaffi kicked Exxon out.

Then let them go do it themselves. Surely they have the money. Hell, maybe we could send them a few copies and the back issues of "Soldier of Fortune" and let them pick a few good men there.

Which is the point, isn't it? Let them scramble their jets. Let them mobilize their artillery and what not. They approve it, let them go for it. Why should we pick up the tab? Lets ask the simple question. WIIFM?

There may be leadership in the waiting but who knows if it will succeed or not. This is a civil matter and if we have no way to reap something from it, let them go deal with it themselves. What exactly is it this new administration is promising us that will help us out?

What kind of government do you think would come about if an armed rebel force seizes control?

Not sure. What would you speculate? BTW, didn't we also come about via armed rebel forces?

The trouble with lighting each and every one up is that mistakes will be made and innocents will perish. Then once again it will be 'big bad America' killing women and children. Maybe disabling Ghadaffi's air power will be enough.

Why again should we get involved in a civil matter? Throw yourself into a mix of 2 fighting dogs and you might just get bit by both. So, if you are going to involve yourself, make sure it is worthwhile. Now, if the new admin will promise us a pipeline of all the oil we want, sure. Just for kicks, no.

Understanibly the U.S. is reluctant to get involved for a variety of reasons. They can however provide logistics, to back up any forces that are mobilised for the mission.
Taking down Ghadaffi's air power will just soften him up, he has to be eliminated.

Good point that this is actually an Arab problem, so let them deliver the death blow.

Obama gets to have his own little war and not even worry about that whole Congress thingie. I mean, the UN says it's okay, why worry about Congress?

Interesting that some of the same folks who hate Shrub for taking out Saddam now want us to get rid of Daffy.
