What's In That $6 Tub o' Movie Popcorn?

More than the $0.20 It Costs to Serve :D

Those calorie watchdogs, CSPI, says there's "three big Macs" worth of calories in those tubs, just over 1,000 calories. However, there's a lot of fiber!

:puke:

I never get those things. Only time I ever ate in a theater was when I snuck in a burrito. Now that was awesome

I feed my child a bucket of theater popcorn every morning.

It was my impression that it constituted a complete and healthy breakfast. Is my understanding flawed? Do we have to upgrade to pork rinds?

Last time I went it was $8 for a large popcorn.

Only if they are "free range" rinds. Any of the domestically produced pork rinds have been linked to taste loss.

NOTHING your Cardiologist would want you consuming!

Belly Up to the Counter,
Ask them to show you the CONTAINER the "Buttery Flavoring" comes in.
(ALL FOODSTUFFS have to have the Ingredients labeling.)

You Don't wanna KNOW!

I gotta admit. I'm a candy-snack-popcorn slut when I go to the moving picture show. My wife says it is cheaper to take me out for a prime rib and lobster dinner BEFORE the movie than to have me eat $30 of candy, soda and popcorn while watching the movie. I'm not kidding about the $30 worth either. I'll go to the showing a half hour early just so I can get the perfect mix of candy blended. I'm just glad I only go to about 2 movies a year or I'd have to pay for 2 seats.

I'm the same way, except for it's probably more like once a year. I rarely go, I rarely eat that stuff so I enjoy it when I get the opportunity.

But the popcorn just isn't the same since the health whackos saved us from the evils of coconut oil. There's no telling what damage could be done from the average 2-5 buckets of coconut oil popped popcorn/year someone could potentially consume!

Wife and I go often. We both really like the movie popcorn. Always have the largest bags we can get. I hate butter, she loves it. I only use salt on it. Yep. An extra large bag of salted popcorn and a coke. I'll be dead soon but I don't care. Might as well enjoy life while you can :D

- Peter.

We're just livin' it up! :D

Now that my oldest two are old enough to watch the youngest two, we might actually be able to go and enjoy some movies that aren't a cartoon or computer generated. :)

The girlfriend and I always sneak in snacks...there's an Acme right next door to our favorite movie theater...and her purse is always on the large side...

Throw in a life water or two...some goobers and dark chocolate raisinets and I'm good...though I have snuck in a Five Guys burger once and it was wonderful...

She inevitably gets a popcorn and/or a tiramisu (our theater has a pretty nice coffee bar)...

We eat like pigs but are both really lightweights...she's 5'7 115lbs and I'm 6'0 160lbs...

Like the rest of you heathens...we'll die young...

Truth be told, I am a fat @$$ at 6'3" 280lbs and may very well die young, but it's not from eating popcorn and candy at the movies. :o :D

I always bring in outside candy, snacks, and beer. I really like bringing in fruit too.

The gutsiest thing I've ever done was sneak in chicken wings under my jacket. Tuperware FTW!

The Swede 03-23-2011 06:41 PM

Back in high school we'd sneak in beer. Empties dutifully placed on the floor, then they'd roll down to the front. Lolzer...
