While we are busy watching Libiya & Japan

George Soros is planning to restructure the world's economy, and destroy America. Where's the CIA hit teams of the Allende days when we need them?

The event is bringing together "more than 200 academic, business and government policy thought leaders' to repeat the famed 1944 Bretton Woods gathering that helped create the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. Soros wants a new 'multilateral system," or an economic system where America isn't so dominant

Just follow the money trail....George Soros has made billions in the Forex market by shorting the US dollar against other currencies.

He did the same thing against the pound some years ago. It's what he does. No different than any other trader, just on a bigger scale and with bigger targets.

If I had the resources and the access to financial markets, I probably would've shorted the dollar too, seeing as how it was on its way down in the middle of the largest recession America had seen since the Great Depression.

I remember reading the same thing in the early 1970's about the Bilderbergers. Somehow nothing ever came of that. You would think that if there were any truth to any of this it would have shown up by now. I mean, if you cannot take over the world in 40 years then it seems as if you are just not trying.

There was another Boogy-Man group back then that was going to take over the world. I think they were called the Illuminati.

I am still waiting to see if they amount to anything, and they are supposed to be over 250 years old. I guess they don't like to rush things.

But the messages is: "You are powerless. Live in fear. Only we can save you. Vote Republican."

Given the fact the Media Research Center is a conservative partisan political contrivance, nothing it ‘reports’ can be considered factual or accurate. Yet another non-issue thread.

That Soros story might have merit, I don't know, but the Media Research Center is about as partisan as they come. Every syllable on their website is going to be slanted as hard right as they can manage. The MRC is a fairly comical organization.

If that’s the case the story will also be available from a non-partisan, established media source.

Sounds like what Hitler thankfully said about nuclear fission. Just substitute Jewish Scientists for Media Research Center and mongrel speculation for conservative partisan political contrivance.

If hardcore idiologues can't refute the message, they attack the messenger.

If the report is false, prove it to be false, then all thinking people (optimistically including myself) will agree with you. If you resort to attacking the messenger, you are in essence affirming the message.

I am not very good at posting links, but if you Google 'Huffington Post feb. 12 2009 George Soros' you can read the 'secret' message all the right wing sites refer to.

I can see why the Republicans are terrified over this. If just 10% of his suggestions are put into place it will mean the end of the Gravy Train on Wall Street. It appears it would also boost the Middle Class all over the world.

Some of the stuff sounds good in theory but even Soros admits politics would likely never let it take place.

One part of it, the Federal Stimulus Package, has already been started. It was funny to watch the Gov. of Oklahoma and one of the Republican Reps from here taking credit for a large bridge project that was just finished in Tulsa. The bridges were paid for with Stimulus money and both of them vowed they would never allow the state to accept any of it. Now they claim it was one of the best things to ever happen, so I guess they would be fans of parts of Soros' plan.

According to the latest news on this only 79 people are going to show up. The whole 200 number seems to have been pulled out of thin air.

This is a long article, but it is not hard to understand even though it deals with some very obscure subjects.

One thing that is covered in some detail is why the housing market melted down here and it did not in Denmark. If there is a part that will scare Republicans the most it would likely be that section since it lays out a plan to cut out almost any way of ripping off people when they get a home loan.

But his main point is: The economy was taken down by Bubbles. His plans lay out ways to prevent future Bubbles.

I don't know if any of it would work like he says it would and I don't think he does either, but if no one gets together and talks about it how would any know one way or the other?

Then by your logic all the other news outlets, being partisan (left) can't be trusted either.

"He wrote that the U.S. "could lead a cooperative effort to involve both the developed and the developing world, thereby reestablishing American leadership in an acceptable form.""

Now that is TRULY scary

Sorry, but I don't see much to be worried about when a group of bigshots is getting together to brainstorm ways to change a system that has destroyed American dominance in manufacturing, outsourced millions of jobs, fattened the pockets of corporate leaders as they trashed the companies they were supposedly in charge of and caused an ever widening gap between the wealthy and the middle class.

The right wants nothing more than to preserve the status quo. They're perfectly happy to shill for the fatcats, while pandering to the christian right attitudes of millions of voters who will NEVER share in the wealth they are sucking out of this country's pockets. The reason Soros is painted as the incarnation of evil is because he's one of the few people on the left who's got the bucks to be a serious threat to them. Good for him.

Business reacts to laws and regulations put in place by politicians.
Look to the laws and regulations passed by governments at all levels in the US over the last score of years or so, and there you will see why the "fat-cats" "destroyed" American manufacturing.
Then the very same politicians complain about the loss of American jobs and manufacturing dominance.
