Name politicians who are basically honest and not power-hungry
I'll start it out with five, one from each political viewpoint:
Far left: Dennis Kucinich Moderate left: Mario Cuomo Middle of the road: Joe Lieberman Moderate right: Rudy Giuliani Far right: Ron Paul

Ken Pentel from MN. Of course he's never held office.

If he's faking, he's got me fooled. John McCain.
I also always thought John Kerry was too, just dont agree with him much. He has always had an agenda, almost seemingly trying to mimic JFK, but I think he truly wants to do good. he has a good streak a mile wide, even though I feel it is misguided

Here are a few:
Rep. Frank Wolf (R - Va.) Sen. Mark Warner (D - Va.) Sen. Jim Webb (D - Va.) Retired Sen. John Warner (R - Va.) Former Gov. Tim Kaine (D - Va.) I'm sure there are plenty more. I think Barrack Obama also fits your description, but I haven't had enough time to get to know him yet. |

I'm sure there are some local politicos who are just trying to help their town, school districts, etc. At a national level, I suspect most are driven by power/ego more than public service.

IMO, history has been very kind to these individuals. In there own times they were not universally respected.

During his second term, GW was often referred to as King George IV because of his "royal" demeanor. The opposition press also spread stories that he was mentally diminished and was being manipulated by his advisors (Hamilton, et. el.).
