Haven't heard much about gas prices lately

Today I looked and regular is $4.23, higher in the city I work in! It's steadily rising! I don't watch much cable news, so I'm not sure if there has been any outcry and outrage lately. Man, did it get even that high in 2008? It's a scary thought. I fill up every 6 weeks or so and my hybrid gets over 500 miles on a tank, but I'm concerned for family and friends who drive regular cars or do a lot of driving. Also, there's concern about the cost of food prices.

Wanna organize a day where we boycott gas stations or just not buy gas altogether?

Most I ever paid was $4.99 for diesel, back in 08. Right now I'm at $3.80ish for regular but I think its about a dime more this week.

My truck actually isn't to much more to run than my SDL given the higher cost of diesel so its ok.

I'm looking forward to this speculation caused bubble to pop so it will come back down to a reasonable range for a bit. I have a feeling your going to see a rapid run up, Libya hopefully settle down than pop, back to $3ish a gallon.

I try to do my own part by riding my bike when I can. In a way, I sort of feel selfish doing it because I do it more for the fun factor and the fact that I can save money (even if it's not much), plus impress the hippie chicks Saving the environment is just gravy

I have four different bikes to choose from, so that makes it fun.

Niner Air 9 rigid (29er bike)

Specialized Rockhopper hardtail

Jamis Dakar XLT full-suspension

GT Timberline "grocery-getter, errand-runner"

I remember paying a little over $5 for diesel in LA in 08, the highest I've seen recently is about $4.15 in CO.

$4.79 a gallon in Carmel today! Was $4.59 on Sunday. I'm going to start charging a fuel surcharge for service work as the cost of fuel is really starting to hurt bad. Thanks Obama.

What is this "gas" of which you speak? My gas-pot's been in the shop for quite a while. Tranny parts from the Classic Center are required for repair. I haven't been driving much, so I've only filled the oil-burner up once since I got back from the sandbox last month. I think I paid around 4 bucks a gallon. This is not ideal, but I can work with it.

When I first started driving, my car was an old Chrysler that liked mid-grade, which I got for a buck a gallon. I miss those days.

I predict six a gal this summer. What's the big deal about four bucks? it's still cheap by international standards so stop whining.

Geez -- you're as bad as I am (though my choices are a bit more diverse)! I hop on the Raleigh (single speed conversion) most days, but also have an old Belgian city bike, a Specialized Stump Jumper, an old Peugeot roadbike, and a Raleigh three speed to pick from too. Building up a Klein roadbike for more serious rides. I only have a ~1.5 commute, so I can get to work almost as quickly by bike as I can by car -- more quickly if parking is particularly bad. Plus, I safe loads of wear & tear on my cars with those short trips.

I almost decided to sell the Jetta TDI recently, and am sure glad I didn't. It's PERFECT for my needs -- a ~300 mile trip once a month to and from National Guard duty -- and best of all, it's paid for. Hard to beat 45mpg!

At $10 a gallon, what would be at the destination? Besides nothing and dust? You do understand that many will be unable to afford to go to work and work will be unable to afford the people, etc, etc and so the place closes. simply put, there will be nothing to go to

Following this logic Europe should be a desert....a friend just returned from UK, £1.38 a liter...this is $8.39 a US gallon

So many folks don't get that. Anything that's produced or manufactured needs to be transported and/or delivered. High fuel costs don't just hurt SUV drivers -- they get us all.
