But when I turned it over stamped on the bottom was: Made in CHINA. :( If I'm spending more bucks, I would rather buy US made, but we are not being informed.

I'm not making a judgement call(s) just being observant.......BUT.....

Sometimes they have to do that - stamp it on the bottom, instead of stamping in a conspicuous area in plain view or it would kill sales. At times people come bipping into a homecenter store, wearing athletic shoes and underwear/clothing made overseas (Asia-Pacific) wearing sunglasses made in the same far eastern continent, driving a foreign-brand car, running on Middle Eastern oil - then sometimes proceed to beat on -(figure of speech) many times causing a scene in front of the retailer for not having U.S. made goods. -Doesn't cut it......

Many a business just obscures (hides the best they can) or in some cases - DELETES the foreign country of origin to make the sales. Do not remind me that it is illegal, because it happens regardless the law, at wholesale & retail levels.

The problem as I see it are all the people wearing shoes/shorts made overseas - yet demanding their other purchases are made in the U.S. It's not possible to live up to the standard of hypocritical judgement calls like that. No way at all.

I know of one businessman that cuts every stinking piece of imported evidence OFF the products they import to keep the customer happy. It's not possible to do business today without using foreign stuff to get or fill the business. We all know it too.

Oh wait, this is a thread about buying American. Make it one of those sweet Ford Rangers with the mechanical diesel and the five speed like the Afghan National Army has, and which you can't buy in the United States.

Manual transmissions in U.S. military vehicles are getting vanishingly rare. The only newer one I've seen was a Western Star tractor that an EOD unit uses for stateside logistics. So what's up with the apparent theory that U.S. troops aren't smart or skilled enough to operate a manual transmission, but an Afghan who's never driven a vehicle before can learn to row through the gears on a Ranger or International?

I think I have US made t-shirts and a baseball cap. I'll be sure to wear them next time I rant at my local retailer. :) Actually it doesn't matter what I do. They can sell whatever they want, and we WILL be happy. That's the Power of the Home Depot.

My last search was for a pair of hunting boots.

10 seconds with Google, which is also "made in America"
