Start up international arms dealing...

http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/the-stoner-arms-dealers-20110316?page=2

Who wants to get into this business with me, it just seems hugely profitable and selling guns is simply cool.

Anyone want to make a fortune will probably become an ex pat in the process?

I want to start up complicated international shell companies/charities and bid on government contracts. We can deliver sub standard goods, but I'm really interested in what Nicolas Cage called in Lord of War "gray" deals. IE its hard to tell if they are legal, but the merchandise is interesting and the money is good.

I need someone who knows some of the right people in the right countries, ie ex Soviet Block!

No, no, no your thinking about it all wrong.

Don't be the guy buying or selling the products, pull a 'Cocaine Cowboys' and just be the one who transports the merchandise to its destination

You need ships and planes for that. Real capital intensive...

Can't start at the top, doesn't one have to first sell arms to local gang members and drug dealers first?

yeah Hatty... you have to start low.I'd start by selling rocks to the Iranians.

Plus posting about wanting to be an international arms dealer is probably stupid since now you will have evidence for the ATF to try you when you eventually get caught.

What its a hypothetical question!

The downside is the government will throw you in jail once your not useful anymore and play dumb.

There is no profit in the small stuff, gang members don't buy/pay enough. Now Libya I wonder who got that contract! Someone is making bank$$$ selling weapons to one or both sides.

All you need is a friend in Russia, a transport plane, some end user certificates, a couple shell companies and bam your shipping to the Libyans or Syrians!

See, what you do is sell to the drug dealers and etc. But buy your way into the local and state police depts so you can get your merch back then just resell back to the fools on the street.

however, I'm against illegally selling guns to maim and harm the general public. Guns should be used for protection and sport.

Obviously he didn't even skim the article....
I'm in the middle of it right now; very intersting.

But come on, we all know that you woudn't be profitable because you would keep too many of the products for your own collection

I couldn't care less what they do with them, long as their money is good.

The problem is I was born to late, an arms dealers wet dream happened when the Soviet Union fell apart. Buy 30k angle kings in one shot is the way to do it!

Its quite good, they were the middle man, which is where you want to be.

Actually their shady European friend is in the best position, he has the government contracts.

He was buying crap 7.62x39 for 2 cents each and reselling them for 4, which is a nice 100% mark up. Than these guys were repackaging them to hide their Chinese origin and selling them to the US government for 10 cents each, which IMHO is a very good deal. The US government is full of crap that they didn't know since the cases of those rounds were stamped in Chinese. BS they didn't know.

If you could simply import this stuff into this country you could sell those rounds here perfectly legally for about .15 cents each, and civilians don't care if its Chinese.

Seems to be a good and somewhat more legal way of doing this is importing stuff from Russian for civilian sales in this country. I mean you can buy a Mosin for $100, they probably pay the Russians $10 for them.

Yes very good article. Frankly they weren't very smart (fricken drug heads )

Greed certainly played its part but the lack of knowladge on international politics was staggering. The second Albania came into the picture I said to myself "oh this should be good"

They make it sound like the two punks blind sighted the Pentagon but I think the Pentagon knew what they were doing from the start.

Remember Lord Of War? 'Sometimes you need someone else's fingerprints on the guns 'they needed me now but next week that could change (or something along those lines)

The Pentagon was saving money on the deal that's for sure and the bullets did work but if anything bad happened they had two idiots to point the finger at.

Bingo, it would be to embarrassing for the DOD to directly buy Chinese made ammunition from Albania and use to the arm the Afghan army.

Sometimes freelancers are needed, in this case these guys. Their Swiss friend who had the connections and disappeared at the end was the smart one. He was still useful so the ATF didn't catch him.

Start by buying used Mercedes in Europe and driving them to the middle east and Africa, this will teach you the routes and give you on the ground contacts. then move on to loading the trunks of said MBs with weapons you pick up in eastern Europe on your way to the middle east. with enough sales of MBs and small arms you could get your self a plane or a ship.
