How much weight can a 300TE roof rack hold?

I have a w124 300TE (don't think it's important but it is a 1989).

I was wondering how much weight can the roof rack hold? Is there a Max Weight written in the manual (which I don't have)?

I would like it to pick up some ladders.

I've had close to 700 lbs on mine. How many ladders are you thinking of?

As for the number of ladders.....Just one, it is about 70 to 80 pounds and was worried that the supports running the width of the car would flex to much and possibly bend. I messed around pushing down on them and they gave a bit, so I was worried.

And this is a one time move to get it to my house, not a hauling it all over for work type of deal.

I recall the owners manual says 200lb limit. No problems carting around a ladder.

How much weight can a 300TE roof rack hold?

The title of this thread had me chanting "How much wood can a woodchuck chuck..."

Everybody sing:

"How much weight can a roof rack hold if a roof rack could hold weight?"

OK, maybe just funny to me...

The problem isn't how much weight can it hold, rather how much weight can you safely drive with on the roof.

....and I am certainly not going to be doing anything like that, at least not on purpose. I am planning to stick to side and feeder roads.....and taking it easy on the accelerator.
