Where can I get Dexron IId in the US

I am in the Houston, TX area and am having trouble finding Dexron IId. If there is anyone local that can point me in the right direction that would be great....If not I would be happy with a online source for quality product.

Dextron III Mercon is a replacement for IId. You could use ATF+4 if D/M is not available. Don't use Type F!

I have heard that Dexron III can be used but then I hear that it is not as good, smooth, or some other reason to not use it.

You could probably buy it online, but why bother. DM III is the replacement. It would be like special ordering straight 30W oil instead of 10W30.

FWIW dexron IV has superseded dexron III.

Redline Synthetic ATF claims to be "suitable for use older vehicles that call for GM DexronŽ II, Ford MerconŽ, and Mercedes Benz Automatic Transmission Fluid and is suitable for GM, late model Ford,or any vehicle which recommends DexronŽ IID or DexronŽ IIE or MerconŽ for refill."

I don't know of another product that distinctly claims to be suitable for use where Dex IId is specified.

sixto, thanks for the reply....I have read good things about the Redline Synthetics ATF, I have also seen Royal Purple mentioned but there are also a lot of arguments against it where people moved to Redline and noticed an improvement.
