Osama bin Laden is gone
Do you feel any safer now?
|
I never felt unsafe. I just rode my motorcycle to home depot to buy some light bulbs; that was a much bigger risk than anything related to terrorists. Getting rid of OBL was a necessary political response.
|
Better late than never, is the only way I can sum it up. ;) Past that.....
|
No, but I am glad he is gone.
He clearly had some impressive leadership ability and ideas. (Misguided of course). |
No. It might have been better for the West that he die of kidney failure rather than as a martyr or from an 'unknown sickness'.

Capture him alive and have a long public trial with plenty of discussions of "intelligence sources"; Have him "disappear" and risk being perceived as ineffectual; Assassinate him and risk creating a martyr. |
I recall an old saying..'The closer they were to Caesar..the greater their fear'.
I am sure his underlings have to be wondering...'Who's next' |
Hopefully with the intel we gathered we can give a few other people in his organization some 9mm sleeping pills.
|
Were they waiting for the release of the CIA agent who shot the people in the street before going after Bin Laden. Wonder if those killings were related to Bin Laden?

And that dealing with them is sometimes very convoluted and co$tly, to say the least. So...be patient . |

From my experiances dealing with Muslims...a simple 'Hey look, we are very sorry about some of the recent events, We are extending an olive branch ,in hopes that from this point forward, our relationship can take a better turn'...goes a long way in the healing process, and further perpetuates co-operation. This may be difficult for some Americans to wrap their heads around....but thats the way it is. |
Bin Laden became superfluous as an actual threat shortly after 9/11. Even so, I'm glad that rock is removed from my shoe.
Pakistan is such a political basket case that I doubt anything the USA does (or doesn't) do will be useful. The military and ISI are corrupt and the political leadership, ineffective. The people don't trust any of them and they distrust each other along ethnic, sectarian, and tribal lines. In the USA we think 3,000 murdered citizens is a cause for war, and I agree with that. It is good to keep in mind that more than 30,000 Pakistanis have died in a large part, due to the same violent people. B |
Perhaps Muslims feel safer, since they were killed more frequently by the forces of OBL.
|
I haven't personally met any Muslims who supported OBL and I've met my fair share of Muslims since 9/11. Has anyone here met any Muslim supporters of OBL?

I'm sure they're still in their "sleeper cell" mode...soooooooooooo, how do you tell?  |
I doubt in most developed parts of the world that his close supporters would wish to be identified. Sympathizer may be a better term. I have met many middle eastern people who are very strongly anti American. There may well be some that would have a soft spot for Mr Fish Food.

Wonder if they have as many choices for a replacement as we do in regards to the D's and R's?

Herbal 'Viagra' found in medicine cabinet at bin Laden's Pakistani compound
By Daily Mail Reporter Last updated at 8:09 AM on 9th May 2011 Osama Bin Laden was taking herbal Viagra when he was living in his Pakistani compound. The health of the tall, thin terror leader was the subject of much speculation in the last few years. Some in intelligence circles even believed he was having kidney dialysis treatment. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/...50_468x286.jpg 'Not weak or frail': 54-year-old bin Laden's wife Amal, 29, said he was in fairly good shape http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/...60_233x341.jpg Sexual boost: Avena is a herbal remedy used to increase desire But now evidence pulled from the medicine cabinet in his hideout, and interviews with his young wife in the Pakistani media, appear to show bin Laden, 54, was not in bad shape. They also show his fondness for herbal remedies. NBC News got hold a list of medications found in the Pakistani compound. None are used to treat long-term chronic illness. There were drugs to treat high blood pressure, ulcers, shingles, nerve pain and common childrens' complaints. They also found Avena syrup, an extract of wild oats that is marketed as a natural impotence cure. Aside from its use to increase sexual desire and potency, Avena syrup is also used as an artificial sweetener often used for a sour stomach. 'The caution is, we don’t know who used what,” said Cynthia Reilly, a pharmacist and director of practice development for the American Society of Health System Pharmacists. 'And we know that in the United States, 40 percent of medication use is off label,” meaning it is used to treat conditions for which it has not been approved. Bin Laden's youngest widow Amal, 29, told Pakistani investigators: 'He was neither weak nor frail. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/...99_468x286.jpg Cocktail of potions: Some of the mediciations in bin Laden's home. The Avena syrup is in the blue box 'He believed in his own medication.' According to Pakistan's Dawn newspaper, Amal, a Yemeni national who was only 17 when she wed bin Laden, said he had recovered fully from two kidney surgeries a decade ago. The Saudis are thought to have hired an assassin to poison Bin Laden in 1999 and the toxin gave him kidney failure. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/...27_468x286.jpg Heavily guarded: Pakistani police standing guard at the bin Laden compound in Abbottabad Amal said he was not on dialysis and helped treat himself by eating a lot of watermelons. She told officials that she and Bin Laden had just gone to bed and had switched off the lights when they heard the first gunshots of the 1am Navy SEALs raid. Before Bin Laden could reach for his AK-47, the commandos had burst in and shot him, she said. Amal, who was bin Laden's fifth wife, was shot in the leg in the raid. She has told investigators that neither she and nor bin Laden left the compound in the last five years, both living like virtual prisoners. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/...94_468x286.jpg Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1384972/Osama-Bin-Laden-Herbal-Viagra-medicine-cabinet.html#ixzz1LyFIkXO2 |
