What's amazing (by US standards) is all the people who stopped to help him. Imagine how he would be treated by the average american mall rat.

Pretty cool.

When I was in Cambodia in '03, a mall with dual escalators had a grand opening and the main attraction were the escalators. :)

He was wondering how he was gonna get back down.

LaRondo 05-11-2011 10:29 PM

They got quite a groove going there. ;)

I don't know. I think, by and large, people world-wide are generally kind and willing to help a stranger. I saw two guys in a local mall that were very gracious to an older lady who was struggling with some packages, with no trace of irony I could find. I am embarrassed to say I had pre-judged them incapable of graciousness.

He did good for his first time unlike this fellow who has probably done it a thousand times.

I recently read a book written by two women whose boat went aground and sank in a lagoon not that far from Papua New Guinea. In their attempts to salvage it, one of them went to Port Moresby. They described it in very undesirable terms.

A little history about that area.
During WW-2, the Communists were createing havoc in Malaysia. They would come out of the jungle, do their thing ,and dissapear back into the jungle.
The British were very clever in how they dealt w/this problem.

The Britt's went down into Borneo, and brought back some very real 'Head-Hunters', and turned them loose in the jungle, with the mission of hunting down the Chinese Communist opposition.

In a short period of time, the Commies waved the white flag, and begged the British controllers to 'call-off' the men from Borneo who were hunting them-catching them- and doing all sorts of nasty things once they did find a communist.

Have you heard of Borat?

How do you know that you have not been taken in? It could have been candid camera.

He was probably wondering what happened to all the steps when they all got collected at the top. What did they do wth them?

cmac2012 05-12-2011 02:41 AM

Wait, there are escalators in Papua New Guinea?

tjts1 05-12-2011 03:15 AM
