Not your typical Walmart purchase. US made of course.

Sorry I should have been more clear. This was not purchased from Walmart.

Wow I haven't seen cantilever brakes like that for some time - that must have been an expensive bike when you bought it. Did the spds come with the bike?

Kuan's bikes are worth more than my vehicles.

Nice!

I've been buying surplus military bread and ammo bags and modifying them to fit as panniers and bar bags. My favorites are the old Swiss military leather & canvas ones; they look great on the old Raleigh (my daily rider/workhorse). I also hand-stitched leather wraps on the drop bars; they have since tanned nicely from the oils in my hands.

No no, I don't own expensive bikes. This bike is a 2011 Salsa Casseroll. I bought the frame for $550 and transferred a lot of parts off another bike onto this one. The wheels are also built up with a Shimano dynamo hub powering a Supernova E3 light so I saved money on having to buy wheels too. Here's a side view.

Funny you mention that. I just ordered two of These Swiss ammo bags for the exact same purpose!

I just want to reiterate my point about craftsmanship and quality. I don't know when it happened, but at some point in my life I started to believe that anything I buy should last me until I die. Judging from the way this bag is made I'm pretty sure that will be the case.

Ok, Kuan, that Brooks is worth more than most bikes you see on a typical bike rack.

Yessir, those work great. The following also work well, and show up SUPER cheap now and then:

http://www.armynavydeals.ca/asp/products_details.asp?SKU=FX9255

It's soft-sided, but can be attached to a typical rear rack pretty easily.

Oof that's really cool. I'll keep that in mind for my next project. And yes that Brooks is worth a lot to me. It has thousands of miles on it and it's barely worn.

Watch Sportsmansguide -- they have them off and on. Last time I bought 6 for $17 or so (package deal). The back is rubberized canvas; perfect for facing the wheels.
