Ironman comp event

www.ironmantexas.com
I was going to enter but it sounds like a real wimpy race to me, only 26.2 mile run ,2.4 mile swim ,then a 112 bike ride.Yawn.The run and swim portion you have to finish within 2hrs 20 minutes or your eliminated. These People are Nuts.

Too much for me. I'm planning to enter "Tough Mudder" when it hits PA again next year. Maybe I'll try it in November in NJ this year though.

we used to have a real iron man comp at University. Had to do things like eat raw pigs eyes & live gold fish, washed down with large amounts of warm beer. The winner was the last to throw up !!

That sounds more like a 'Bone-Head' competition, than an Iron-man event.

...Ahh...to be young again.....

You have to be made of iron to compete! They also swim the local river with no water in it (6' of silt) & stand on their head for extended periods of time.

Now that part sounds pretty grueling...I thought they just ate gross stuff.
Thanks for clearing it up.

I've always wanted to drive the amphibious pace car, for an Iron man competition.

Tough Mudder is not your average lame-ass mud run or spirit-crushing ‘endurance’ road race. It’s Ironman meets Burning Man, and it is coming to a location near you. Our 10-12 mile obstacle courses are designed by British Special Forces to test all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie. Forget finish times. Simply completing a Tough Mudder is a badge of honor. Tough Mudder has raised over one million dollars for the Wounded Warrior Project.
Some people enter it in groups and just have fun with it. I plan to be serious about it and see if I can complete it in less than 2.5 hours.

There are some big fellers that have great cardio. However, it's rare and the extra weight is more wear on the knees.

That race would kill me right now. It's coming to my area next year. I have time to train!

If you complete the course you get a bright orange terry cloth Tough Mudder head band and a free beer. Awesome.

I'm finishing my second round of P90X and wanted to have another goal (other than being healthy) to help me stay on track and keep my intensity up.

I know of a few people who like P90X and it seemed to have worked for them.

I like to run outside (a nearby lake) and hit the gym. Being around others is a great motivator for me, plus there's usually some good scenery.
