I have a 396 big block - what do I put it in?

My sister-in-law gave me a 396 that originally was in a 1968 Chevelle. I was trying to think of something good to put it in. I like the Camaros, Chevelles, etc., but they're just so common. I don't like common - I like different.

I was thinking of putting it in a european car of some sort, but I can't seem to think of anything that wouldn't require a massive redo (such as the 1967 Glas 3000 GT near me I've been wanting forever - google image search it).

Need suggestions; don't let cost sway your opinions, but let's not go insane.

Chevelle or an old Chevy pickup. Maybe find an old (C2 or C3) Corvette that needs an engine.

107s can be had pretty cheaply, especially with tired or no engine, and the chassis is definitely up to the task

The BBC is a bit heavy for a W123. It could be done, but why? If I were going to do a V-8 swap into a 123, I'd probably go with a 302 Ford. They weigh about the same as an OM617 and can be made to produce tons of power.

The rat is a pretty heavy motor. I have always heard that you can fit one most anywhere you can fit a mouse though. I would stick with something which originally had a chevy motor though.... If you want something exotic there were some eruopean built cars with chevy motors...My mind is blanking at the moment.

any way something which came with a 327 would benefit from an upgrade to a 396. Best choice might be a corvette of the correct vintage...66? after 65 and 66 I believe they went to the 427 and then 454 for the big block option in a vette. I would pick one with a bad engine with a less than stellar option list, like a 2 bbl with automatic or you might make it worth less than if putting it back original.

I would not put it in a 123. Way too heavy imho.

Or if you want a v8 benz, just sell the 396....I think they are pretty marketable and buy a nice benz with the v8.

Building a one of a kind is hard to come out on financially.
