How do you like your w211 (or w212)?
 

Over the next year or two, I possibly plan on purchasing a newer e-class. Any thoughts or things to look for? What kind of issues have owners run into? Maintanance costs?

I like the W212 better, its more modern, has a nicer interior and I just like where Mercedes is going. Quality is way up, seems to be built as good as anything.

My attorney has had one for 6 months now and its been flawless.

My sis in law has an '03 E320 (or are they 350's?)

Only has 40k miles and never a hitch, however I've read there are issues with these early one's. Don't recall what they are. Also, quite possibly one of the most dull cars to drive.

The '07 W211 was the first reliable one IMHO. Stay away from the early ones. The 212 is a very nice car but it really hasn't proven itself yet. Either way, drive both of them and then decide which one to buy. They have a completely different "feel" from one another. The 212 is smoother, quieter and has much quicker steering. The 211 is more comfortable and looks nicer, I think. (Brilliant Silver w/panoramic roof and AMG 5-spoke wheels!) Good luck:)

My wife's 04 W211 is a perfectly serviceable vehicle. It works fine and is very comfortable; but it's just a used car.
