So, the story is out there: A man walks into a NC bank and demands $1.00 in a robbery. He gets his money, then tells the teller, I'm going to sit down in that chair, and wait for the police.
Police come and arrest him for robbery, man goes to jail.
Perpetrator claims he did the robbery so he could receive health-care, and a place to live.

Is the system broken? Or, is a "smart" man using the system to his advantage?

Very strange story, that I thought I'd post about.

George Burns did a comedy like this in 1983 with a couple old actors. I believe it was called " The Over the Hill Gang." They robbed a bank, each got 7 years, got three squares and a roof and the kids didn't have to take care of them.

I waiting to see a documentary about that on TV one of these days. Ordinary (formerly) middle class Americans deliberately breaking the law in order to get into jail, because they can't afford a mortgage, medical insurance, food, etc.

Reminds me a little bit of that movie, Fun With Dick And Jane.

The post title is very misleading. It wasn't to get insurance, it was to get medical care at a level he could afford...FREE

There are programs he would have qualified for to receive the proper medical care...this was a staged stunt, with prior media knowledge. He's an activist...
