What's on your grill?

As the summer season prepares for the 4th weekend naturally my thoughts turn to grilling. I am always elated to fire up the trusty grill for a flavorful backyard cuisine. I do enjoy finding new recipes to enhance the grilling experience so if anyone cares to share, I'd be obliged.

I find that grilling is not just about the food but the ambiance. Summer grilling with a favorite beer, a few friends and music is for my money just about as good of a summer activity as you can get.

Burgers, Brats and Sausages are always a perennial favorite, yet I do chicken, chops and of course steak. If I feel like going all out I will grill salmon...umm.

Sam Adams has some good summer beers as well Leinenkugel. Iced down is my favorite.

Here's to all of you Grillers this weekend and Summer! Cheers.

I am planning to smoke some ribs and/or a brisket on Monday; can't wait! My favorite summer beer, for the moment, is Früh Kölsch. I'm not sure it's available stateside (someone somewhere probably has it), but I brought a case of it back after my last TDY to Germany. It's a great, light, "summery" beer for events like the 4th of July. I think Sam Adams does a kolsch, too. Barring that, a good Belgian lager will do anytime.

Man, now I'm hungry for BBQ. Oh, and I agree on the Salmon. Ever grill it on a cedar plank? Mmmmm!!!

Cedar Plank is a must! Thanks, I'll look for the SA kolsch.

Oh I thought this was going to be automotive related grills - I was going to say dead flies...

:D

And if it's only about cooking grills . . . you have to give a nod to "carbon" from the last grilling session. ;)

Girlfriend is a vegetarian so I'll probably make myself some hamburgers and regular 4th food. We are having a small party at her house.

No shortage of veg and fruit that can go on the grill, and it doesn't have to be a tofu-burger. A lot of times, the grilled veg sells out faster than the proteins.

Similar situation - going to a BBQ where half the people are veg so there's going to be some tasty morsels (material TBD) on the grill. I'm gonna enjoy some good beer though, probably going to pick up a local micro or something that I haven't tried before.
