It looks very nice but;... was there an American 280e w123 body in 1985?
It seems to be an import from Germany; so that means the speedometer pod has been changed out. So the 'miles' are very suspect.
...i could be wrong tho...

Hmm, I go by that place at least once a month, don't remember seeing this car out there. Oh well, looks to be very nice nonetheless, wish I coulda checked it out before it sold!

I'm not a 280 expert by any means, but wouldn't a 280 have had a tachometer?

And where were they supposed to put the clock then?

Did the diesel speedos go up to 140? Reason I ask is because my diesel goes to 80mph haha...I thought the 240s and 300s did as well..it may very well be a period replacement.

IIRC the diesel speeds after 1981 when the 85 mph speedo law was dropped were 120 mph.

I guess this case, my question is more for w123s, did USDOT spec 280s go to 140? Seems high and also no tach, but going by these guys on a regular basis I'd say BBMC is totally legit.

It's a Euro import with US instrument pod swapped into it (original would have had a tach). also US headlight swap. Original bumpers though and trunk triangle, as well as Euro AC system. Nice! However the non original instrument cluster could be a problem if the miles were way higher than shown although it does look to be in decent condition all round.
