Does a critics thoughts
Mean a bad movie? I think not, almost 100% of the movies that critics say are bad go on to gross hundreds of millions of dollars. I think critics should be banned. :D
|
Because most people have bad taste.

Critics serve a function. If they say a movie is great, then you know it isn't. If they all say it stinks, there's a good chance it's pretty good.
|
How can you "ban" critics? They have as much right to their free speech and expression as do you. ( That's the liberal in me!)
You are NOT required, however, to pay any attention to said critics. As was pointed out above, they seldom have a direct effect on the success or failure of a movie. Word of mouth is much more compelling. |
read more critics until you find one that has agreed with you in the past, then you can gauge your taste by them. otherwise pays your money and takes your chances. I generally watch the previews, if they really push a few clips generally they are the only good parts of the movie, if they go into detail and show a lot of different scenes then likely you will get a good show

Never understood why people listen to critics. I used to work in newspapers and was astounded, knowing the critics in the papers as I did, how people would surrender their intellects to these pompous clowns. Every time I suggest a movie to my wife her knee jerk response is "what does Ebert say about it". I didn't even know who the hell Ebert was till I met her.
When I decide on a movie the first thing that I look as is the subject matter. If it interests me I look to see the preview, if that looks promising I'll go see it. What critics think means nothing to me what so ever. - Peter. |
