Chap selling two sand bags originally sold by the Swiss national break down service to weight down the back end of a W123 / W124 => stick 'em in the trunk on either side to get more grip... who needs winter tyres eh?

EDIT:-

Sorry I've put this in DD - can someone move it to OD for me please - we don't need to clutter up DD with this sort of rubbish!

i hope they ship it without the sand in it.

Probably not - it would loose its originality... I mean where can you find Swiss sand?

TheDon 07-13-2011 01:15 PM

This is true. I did ask the classic center for a quote of a tank of german air for my tires.

I bet that was expensive...

Some companies over here are now offering to fill tyres with Nitrogen (just like aircraft tyres) - I'd go for that if you want some special stuff in your rubber

I have gold dust sprinkled in my tire air.

I've been making silly comments like this for years and you are the first to notice - well the first to comment!

Weighing down is pretty much useless.....However they could be somewhat useful for carrying sand to throw under the tire in the event of getting stuck.
