My Craigslist ad can't be found . . .

. . . but it shows up in my account page and when I click on the URL, there it is:

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/apa/2494078099.html

I've e-mailed their "support" dept., the FAQs I got back in the initial response (maybe the only response, who knows) are of no more help than the ones on their help page.

I didn't have this trouble with the previous units I advertised. Any Craigslist aces out there?

Sometimes it's a browser cache issue.... Close all your browser windows or better yet purge your cache, history, cookies and off line content - chances are your browser is not re-fetching data.. I've had similar infuriating issues at least once or twice...

If others can see it - it's out there.

I appreciate the help and I'm glad it can be seen. Adding to the anxiety is the fact that the landlady has gotten no calls and I had it up for four days before renewing about 10:30 this morning. Weird thing is, I still can't find it and tried today on a library computer and couldn't find it there either. I don't get it. I'm clicking on east bay and putting "Berkeley" in the search box. I used the word "sporadically" in the ad and if I use that one word as a search term, my ad comes up.

Very strange.

**EDIT** I found one of the same ads that's on iwrock's screen shot (not sure how to do that) on my page, the one that says:

$1100 CAL BEAR FANS! 2 blcks from Memorial Stadium *new leasing special*

It was submitted at the same time as mine, 10:58, 7-14. Mine is nowhere to be found.

Iwrock, what search words and/or procedures did you use?

Whoa, this just in: on another site, a fellow told to do a Google search for 'Craigslist ghosting.'

Oh man.

Just by brute force "browsing" through SF bay area craigslist > east bay > housing > apts/housing for rent, I see your listing. In that list, it's currently 1000 listings or so from the top.

If I search that section using "stadium" as a keyword, your ad is currently the 4th listing from the top.

I once had a a CL ad that I think was being "ghosted", much to my frustration. This was on a little dinky low-volume CL site, so it wasn't a matter of the ad getting buried under hundreds of others; it simply wasn't showing at all.

My ad originally had nice HTML formatting with small externally-hosted pictures that were links leading to higher-resolution pictures. At a later date, I stripped the ad down to the bones - plain text with pictures hosted by CL - and was able to get it to show.

5x my house payment (and we pay double payments)

Anyway, yeah, it comes up. I searched "U Cal stadium" w/o quotes and it was there. No worries.

I had the same problem when I ran an ad for my 79SD. First one showed up and was on there for weeks. Later ones ghosted. I have no idea why. I kept trying different things such as totally different wording and different pictures. After about six weeks the ad started showing up again. In this instance, I don't understand why others can see it and you cant. But if you're not getting any calls and you usually do, I'm thinking that most people can't see it.

It is a steep price to pay all right. The Bay Area is a spendy place to live. A few days back, one of the next door neighbors brought a fetching young thing over to look at it for some friends. This leggy sweet young thing, early to mid 20s I'm guessing, when I said that the landlady was going to ask $2500 said, "Oh, she'll get it." Turns out she pays $2200 for one not as large or nice and with no view.

Some of the UCal alum love to put their student children in this building as during football season they can make it a day with the kids, come and park early, then after the game, walk over to have a leisurely dinner. The post game traffic jams are hellacious for more than an hour.

To the topic, great help here, I appreciate it, and I may have sorta semi solved it, though I'm not sure which step did the trick. I removed "top floor" from the ad on the off chance some disabled activist flagged me for discrimination. An eye rolling possibility but who knows. I also got rid of the photobucket links - you'd think they'd prefer that as it's less bytes on their servers but I've read that too many photos from another server can agitate their algorithm. I put in four pics on their "add images" thingy, what the heck, it's not bad and they're going to come and see for themselves anyway:

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/apa/2494078099.html

The part that irritated me is that I couldn't find it when I used Berkeley as the search word. Berkeley is on the title line but it's put there by them, after I click on the location in their list. I looked at all the ads that did show up with B as the search word and they had B in the body of the ad. So I changed mine to 'just above UC Berkeley stadium,'and now it shows up. I'm thinking that not many people are going to do a search for stadium, or UCal stadium, even if it is a feature that might catch their eye once they've seen the ad.
