Chase Credit card - Hacked!!

I read in the news about a month or two ago that chase was being targeted and had been infiltrated.

Guess my card got caught up in it.

Check your activity for '_.com' s .. thats what mine was. There was 2 from different addresses. Travel related and coupon deals related.

I got a new Chase card a few months back. Slate card with the new proximity thingy. When it was about a month old, Chase called me up. They said they had spotted a $1 charge from a known card pirate. Killed the card immediately and sent me a new one. I don't think I had even used it yet before the pirates had the number. No problems with the replacement card so far, but I watch closely for unidentified charges.

Amazing.

They missed the first charge on my account that happened long before the news was out. They handled the second one very well and removed the earlier charge.

Same as you.

That reminds me, I think I will check and see if my old buddy Romeo Stepanenko is still a guest of the Federal Bureau of Prisons....

As of about a year ago, he was still in the slammer.

Reason #45345345 why I prefer paying ca$h. It's not only thieves/hackers, it's legit businesses that overcharge you (i.e. local diner printed $15 on their receipt and charged me $25.)

I can see a time in the near future where cash won't be welcomed at some establishments.

Hoping the economy totally collapses next year and we'll be back to gold and barter. Vive l'anarchie! All hail Ned Ludd!

In any case, all brick-and-mortar establishments that I frequent still welcome cash. Some give discounts for it (yeah, I know, against the banks' rules, but screw the banks with a sharp stick) or even mandate it.
