Reply to MR2s are gay comment

Somebody made this comment in a thread that got closed.

I am so damned tired of hearing that comment and will never buy a Toyota again because of that reaction.

I have a 1987 generation I (1984 to 1989) MR2. It looks like a Pontiac Fiero or Fiat X1/9, and with the Lotus based suspension and 7500 RPM redline engine, it is an overdog in the ES autocross class matched against Datsun Z's, non-turbo Porches and rotary Mazdas. It is more fun to drive than you can believe. It is definitely not gay.

Generation II (1989 to 1999) MR2s are something like a Mitsubishi 3000GT, but have better handling. Another not gay car.

For some damn reason Toyota built a totally gay two seat convertible from 1999 to 2007 (and instead of leaving the Spyder name alone, they put the MR2 logo on it). Amongst MR2 owners owners, this is called the MRS2.

The only thing missing is the rainbow sticker.

I feel like I'm in a time warp because everyone is calling everything they don't like "gay" just like we did when we were elementary kids in the '70's.

I wouldn't worry about what people say. If you're comfortable with who you are and you enjoy the car then don't worry about it.

I'm not a huge fan of the second and third gen, but the first gen car is pretty awesome. It's a shame you don't see many anymore, and when you do, they're usually painted lime green and have a huge 2x4 mounted on the back for a spoiler.

Am I the only that sees similarities between the MRS2 and the Boxster ?
Toyota tried to copy the Boxster there.

Rule 1: buy what you like.
Rule 2: don't worry about other people's thoughts about your decisions.

Would be best if you wouldn't let other people's voices control your actions. I own a Lexus LS430, and Lexi regularly get blasted on this site as crap. So I defend the car on this forum, but I don't say "I'm never buying another one because of that reaction".

Let me think about it ....

No, I don't care.

It was a silly score keeping facade to project an aura of fairness to cloak a particular goombah's imbalances. As demonstrated, it remains a jockstrap worn over the nose.

Did you demonstrate that? That's not hygienic.

Spoken like a true Grumpy Old Diesel owner !!!

Who gives a ###### what some snotty nosed kid wants to say !!

If you like a car, drive it & enjoy it.

Most who make comments like "its gay" probably need to have a close look at their own sexuality !!!
