I had three classmates that worked at VG. That was a long time ago, but I still worry for them. I think the current count is 8 dead from the bombing.

From reports of a "tall blonde" individual under arrest, it would appear (at least at this stage) that's it's domestic terrorism and that the US is not the only country with home grown whackjobs.

This is so sad.
In terms of the population of the country, it would be like 2,000 teenagers being killed in the USA.
Norway is a country that up till now had its act together in terms of having a peaceful society.

True but in this case it doesn't appear to have been a religious nutbag. More likely a neo-nazi whackjob. Given the targets he probably has a beef with the government which I'm going to guess he figures is "too liberal" regarding islam. Kind of a Norwegian Timothy McVeigh.

The maximum prison sentence in Norway is 21 years. Even for murder. I wonder if a judge can sentence the guy to 80 consecutive prison terms.

A lot of things can happen in those 21 years ... imagine him being roomies with a cousin of one of the kids he killed.

Well, it would appear he was indeed some kind of extreme christian fundamentalis nationalist whackjob with a beef against Norwegian society. "like meting Hitler before WWII" according to someone who know him in the report I read.

Took the swat team 40 minutes to reach the island by boats. Apparently the police dont have helicopters in Norway.
