I would find this comparison more credible if it came from Fox News...

Well god knows that they have a reputation for being fair and balanced.

God please don't strike me dead for telling a lie.

Agreed:

Bush & Co were completely irresponsible for starting an unfunded war. If it's important enough to fight for, it's important enough to levy special taxes for, and I think Congress would have agreed after 9/11/2001.

Selling us out to the Chinese to fight in the Middle Easterners borders on treason, and I hope that those responsible will be held to account for it in the future.

One thing is for sure. I don't want them raising taxes on the rich. Not one red cent I tell you.

No one spends money like drunk republicans, except the dems.

Although I have to say Obama hasn't been to brutal on the budget.

Dems are at least willing to consider raising taxes to pay for their spending, whereas the RePIGS are living in la-la land.

Hatterasguy 07-25-2011 05:31 PM

Yeah pretty much. The bottom line is you can't spend what you don't have.

The only way out of this problem is just what no one wants to hear, taxes need to go up on everyone and spending needs to go down.

Its no different than reducing debt on a personal level when you rack up to many CC bills, you have to send Visa more each month and spend less.

What people don't see since very few people are able to think ahead is when the debt gets paid down to a reasonable level, say half of where its at now, maybe they can lower taxes again even further. If the economy improves and things change in say 5 years they might be able to reverse the tax increase and not have the debt shoot up.

The flip side is a weaker dollar is good for export business in this country.

F the export businesses with a sharp knife -- I prefer to keep MY savings intact. Fortunately it's still relatively easy to open an account denominated in other currency, more so if you're a dual citizen.

A consistent rate of taxation via income tax is better than random taxation via inflation-fellation.

You are kidding, right?
What do you think will be the actual cost of a fully implemented Obamacare?

Botnst 07-25-2011 06:51 PM

It saves money by spending money!

More bread!

More circuses!

I wonder how one "factors" the costs of Americans with better lives resulting from increased access to health care.

One doesn't -- because one cannot prove the existence of the supposed phenomenon.

Well then, the Republican bimbos have little about which to worry.
