Type of transfer case

Anyone make heads or tails of this? It has dual input or output at the top and at the bottom, it's stamped WG. Anyone have any ideas who made it, or what type of transfer case it is?

hmm, It is WG, is that Xfer case from the 50's? this case is the same profile top to bottom, it dosnt bulge out like that one does at one end

It's not a really a good picture, hard to ID...the OP's pic, not the one you linked to.
I was going by the WG marking.

It could be, it's definatly the same, but I think the one is taller, the NP 200 is the right type though

The brake drum hiding behind the power output makes me think it is off a heavier truck like a 2.5 ton with front drive maybe? ...turned upside down?

I have seen a number of transmission from the 30's and 40's that had a brake band on the output side of the transmission. This was where the emergency brake grabbed on to stop the car.
When you see an old truck or car with a gear shift and and brake lever coming out of the floor together the brake lever went to the brake bands, or shoes, like you see in the photo. Could this be just a gear reduction unit? Sort of a granny or crawler gear that could be added later?

not sure. It's a transfer case in a power car on a park train. so anything is a wild guess on where the factory got the parts
