WHAT?
Were things just too tranquil here on OD? There isn't enough name-calling and insults to to suit you? Did you really have to go and start a dreaded oil thread? enjoy

When I change oil, I get the garden hose and flush the engine out with water to make sure I get all the junk out of it!

Be sure to use soap, clear water is not sufficient.

Hopefully before long we will really have such engines--they are making electric ones in germany that renault is using in some cars, then we would have to deal with those Italians and Spanyards for our oil.

Hmmm, interesting that they note Honda's break-in oil has moly disulfide in it. On some of the oil forums, I've noticed that on several brands of oils, as they lower the levels of ZDDP (zinc and phosphorous) due to EPA mandates regarding emissions, they've started including some amount of moly as a replacement. And technical grade moly, that pure enough and fine enough to blend into oil, is frakkin expensive.
I've been adding in a can of LubroMoly MOS2 for the past 10K miles when I change the oil. After the first 1000 miles or so, that diesel has been running noticeably quieter.

You could once buy Molybendum in a pure form to pour in your engine. It cost about $5 for 3 liquid oz. back in 1965.
It did seem to help, though. |

I thought an oil thread would get a person banned.....
