Anyone ship a boat?

I'm contemplating the purchase of a trailerable sailboat. Small, 21' about 1800lbs. Would probably need to ship it from Detroit to my home. Anyone done this? With whom? Anyone know the approximate expense for something like that?

Get it with the trailer, and either go after it or arrange with someone coming west, getting it without would definately not be efficent.

It includes the trailer. Driving there and back is not feasible at the moment.

I've seen them on long haul flatbed semis. So, freight handlers can do it.

I agree, many haulers go one way empty. I bet you could get some good pricing.

There are a ton of shipping companies out there. I have seen boats and cars shipped cross country for less than $500. Heck, I got a new engine shipped to my door for less than $150. Not sure if that price was good, but it was less than I expected.

You may want to contact a Yacht club/Marina. They may have some ideas.

That's an easy one, I thought you meant across an ocean or something.

Just U ship it, they will winch it onto a flat bed same as a car.

Lots of companies ship boats.

Is it a Ship or a Boat ???

OR

Isn't shipping a boat redundant ?

Got one bid of $1800 on Uship so far.

Maybe it should be trucking a boat.

Does it have a mast?

Shipping a boat is going to be a bit more than shipping a car, they are bulky and can't be stacked nice on a trailer to maximize profit.

The buyer of my grandfathers Chris Craft 315 Commander paid $10,500 to have it shipped from CT to Washington state about 5 years ago when diesel cost half what it does now.

Sounds like a lot but I wonder how much it would cost to sail that boat from WA to CT.......

It really didn't have the range, but if you could probably $50k or more.

I know people who pay $30k or more a year to have a captain take their boats from here to FL.

2 masts no keel. Masts fit inside the hull when on the trailer. It's a trimaran with folding amas.
