I love Mother Jones! Where else can you get such astonishing stories for so little effort?

oh, i see the high school debate team is having it's members practice their techniques here. avoidance of the issue probably works among the underclassmen, and maybe a few of the "duller" seniors. sadly, we're all a bit brighter here.

by the way, gov. scott's company paid millions in fines. surely, a good christian like you must have something to share about gov. scott's sins. no?

the free market place (sic) is good for the little people, i know.

( i predict an evasive and or non - sequitur response from our "libertarian" intellectual. or nothing at all. he'll just take his ball and go home. )

What is the surprise or the problem.

He's the CEO of a multi-billion dollar entity.

His compensation package should be viewed from that perspective.

When I made $10 an hour I had crappy benefits.

When I made $100 an hour I had superb benefits.

The lesson I learned was to as quickly as possible make $100 an hour.

Apparently the message that others have learn is to degrade those that make $100 an hour.

Parasites (this is not directed at ANY individual on PP) need to be careful. You can't take too much or you'll kill the host.

He is a public servant living off public means and not a CEO. Mostly he does not create a product or money and he like the president is a figure head and a facilitator who can with luck save his employer, the tax payer, some money.

Couldn't agree more. Scott is a parasite living off the public tit.

Luke 16:19-31

There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day.
At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores,
and longing to eat what fell from the Rich Man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.
The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The Rich Man also died and was buried.
In Hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side.
So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire’.
But Abraham replied, ‘Son remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony.
And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone else cross over from there to us.’
He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father’s house,
for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.
Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’
‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’
He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead’

ah, the good book, perhaps you need to reacquaint yourself with it, brother sjh

That's how you do it, have the mother sign everything over to the kids and become "poor" so they can live off the state.

I'm surprised he pays anything.
There's certainly a number of respondents to this forum that pay nothing for their healthcare insurance.
10 years ago I payed $375 a month for a piddling HMO policy.

We've had a number of threads on healthcare over the years. I don't remember anyone getting it for free.

I second that; I love the American system of educashun. BTW, your premise started out all wrong; America has opportunity, not equality. And while you're at it, how about naming me a country on the planet that does have a system of equality?

I believe many receive healthcare insurance as part of their employment.
Not only do they not pay for it, but do not pay payroll taxes on its value or cost to the employer. The employer will deduct the cost of insuring employees as overhead.

Personally, I don't know anyone who gets it as a part of their benefit package that doesn't have to kick in additional $$ themselves.
