Any thoughts on the MaxJax lift?

I think I posted about this before. I'm just tired of lifting and working with the limited amount of space of a jack stand..

My 201 has a bunch of surface rust in random places. My SDs have rust and the 420 is starting in some small places. I think it would be entirely easier if I just pulled in, lifted up and bam...

Albeit some work would have to be done on the ground, like any repair on jack lift points...

The lowest price I saw was $2300 or so. It lifts the car 45" off the ground...I think that would work in my garage.. The celing is 8-9 foot but the garage door opener and garage door get in the way...

As for the lift, luckily we have a 3 bay garage, so I was thinking about installing the Maxx in middle of the garage so that there would be plenty of walk around room and the car would clear the garage door rails.

Find out if they recommend a minimum thickness of concrete underneath the areas of the lift that contact the floor.

Do I need a special floor or foundation to support my lift?
Most residential or commercial foundations are strong enough to support a MaxJax™ lift. The minimum requirements are 2500-3000 PSI 4" thick concrete. Be sure to check your floor on the possibility of it being a post tension slab. In this case contact the building architect before drilling. Visually inspect the site where the lift is to be installed and verify the concrete is in good condition. If your concrete has cracks or other defects, please consult with a certified contractor before proceeding to install the MaxJax™ lift.

Looks like a great option for those of us with mere garages rather than shops. I'll definitely keep it in mind when I'm finally able to level my 1920's vintage 2 car garage (which is a one car garage with today's vehicles) and replace it with a slightly larger true 2 car one.

At first it looked really great until you see the max lift is only 4 feet

Being able to move around under the car without having to lie down on a creeper, or work on the brakes and suspension without having to bend over . . . I think there's some value in that. ;)

Yes there is, but you could buy a mid-rise for much less money and get about the same lift. If you are 6 feet tall or over, you would learn to hate moving around under a 4 foot ceiling....

For those of us with only 8-9' ceiling height in our garages it looks like a good option. I'd love a full-size lift but I'm not sure I could get Historic District Commission approval on a new garage that would be big enough to contain one. This looks like a decent compromise.

A lot of lifts will fit in a 9 foot ceiling, but NOT when the garage door is open. Thats what kills my options.

Two members on my delorean forum I frequent bought them and really like them.
