If it's your home unit, trying "back-flushing" the compressor-coils to get the buildup of pollen/fluff/stuff out of the coils themselves...if the air gets restricted too much, the compressor will shutdown on you and then...as you're already aware, you end up basting in your own gravy.

SuxBigTime...

Outside of that...emergency, after-hours service call...

I just rode my motorcycle in full gear in 95 degree weather. The really good part: I went to the college bookstore to get the books I need for next week. I got there about 3:30, and it turns out they close at 3.

I'd bet on the starter capacitor. If they maintain it, it should be covered. Doesn't make you any cooler, though.

Record heat (still) in San Antonio this w/e. Forecast 107.

Good news!

I lived in the Philippines without AC for about a month once. It wasn't pleasant, and I think Florida would be even worse.

6:00PM and it's still 106 outside. I thank goodness everyday 'cause I don't live in Phoenix! How's it going up there Peter and MTI? You ready to go back to the Island yet MTI? Sometimes Durban doesn't sound all that bad, ehh Peter?

Fire ants in the contactor.

A common problem...they're attracted to the ozone or something on the contacts and throw their tiny bodies under the contacts. Eventually, enough build up and insulate the connection, keeping the compressor and condenser fan from running.

Good prevention is to spray insecticide around the condenser unit.

Not even noon here and it is already 102F. Looking at 106F today...and I'm hauling hay in the big middle of it if my baling guy will ever call.
