Yeah, but police, prisons, and the military are the three sacred piglets of US politics. I actually don't have a problem with intelligence gathering in and of itself, but I do agree that NYC is overpoliced in other ways.

When 9/11 first happened I told several close friends that everyone is now a suspect and on the 'watch list'. They are using Census data to develop 'potential terrorist profiles' to see who they need to watch. During WWII they used Census data to round up the Japanese and place them in camps.

Their investigations involves phone taps, staking out your home and work place, snooping into your finances and more. One of my friends said he thought the U.S. would show the former Soviet Union and Nazi Germany how to really beat up on people. I'm afraid his prophecy is coming true....

I doubt that. I don't know why they hate us, but our religious freedom seems like an unlikely reason to me. I think it has more to do with what they perceive to be our greedy and violent imperialism and what they perceive to be our intolerance of their religion.I thought that was more about religious intolerance, but I don't know.
