I suppose the question in my mind in terms of a pink gun> "Does the bullet that stops an intruder have a color"?

For shooting purposes, absolutely none. For resale, well....

^ That is a subjective statement. OP, handle as many as possible and decide for yourself what is right for YOU.

OP's friend already decided on the "Pink Lady" revolver.

How the hell did you manage to do that to a Mauser?

Hmmm. Very subjective as to which gun feels best in your hands. For myself I prefer a nice older 22 rifle with walnut furniture. But of course I have those as a hobby, not any kind of protective device.

I like my .40 thank you very much. I have the same one being raffled off in Arizona that the antis are making a stink about. For the record, the shooter in the Giffords incident used a Model 19, which is Glock's 9mm compact. The one in the raffle is a Model 23, their .40 S&W compact.

I am certainly not in a position to advise her.

The first thing that came to my mind was either 38. or 32. caliber revolvers, as they may be simpler to handle than an auto-matic.

She has mentioned either 9 ml...or 40. (Taurus)?. Lives in Florida, and mentioned something about a permit to carry has restrictions, in terms of caliber size?

Anybody?
The best gun is the one she uses most handily. This might or might not be the one you would choose for her.

If I were you I'd spend a hundred bucks and pay a fire arms safety trainer to work with her some afternoon at a range. Find a trainer who has a bunch of different handguns. In my locale they are easy to find just by asking at gunsmiths or sporting goods stores.

You need to get out of the equation and let her decide what kind of weapon she is most comfortable shooting. That comes from experience, not advice.
