*** "Bailiff! Whack his 'pee-pee!'" ***
Baseball bat hollowed out to fire tracer-rounds and a mounted lazer-beam sighting system complete w/a strobe-light disabler...
Otherwise, make my choice an Uzi with above listed accessories...

No need to vent.
as to the original silly question, as the Reverend in Pale Rider says, "there's nothing like a good piece of hickory."

Bat; easier to control, possibility to deflect the chainsaw if you're careful. You can simply out endurance your opponent. No one said the chainsaw had fuel Bat are particually dangerous when employed in large numbers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQiEJXB0XOA

chainsaw would be far more demoralizing a weapon, though the bat probably more practical. I'd need some practice with a chainsaw before committing to it methinks

I loved that movie! Remember when Ajax from the Warriors said "I'll stick that bat up your ass and make you look like a popsicle!" Classic!

As to the original question -In most cases I would prefer a bat, however my stihl 090 with the 47" bar would probably guarantee a win in any situation.
