Lawmakers banned from Michigan bars

http://www.wnem.com/story/15308606/lawmakers-banned-from-michigan-bars

If only business owners would boot lawmakers over more serious issues (say healthcare or endless war) this would be the beginning of a good trend!

I like it too. Screw the bastids. They can go gladhand in Dunkin' Donuts or somewhere and meet their hookers online.

Likely because they kept telling the Barkeeps to hide the tab in the annual budget instead of paying the bill.

They are serious.

The smoking ban here in casino, restaurant and bars has put many thousands out of work since it started.

The economic cost is far beyond $200 million dollars per year.

We are fighting to get rid of this piece of CRAP conceived by morons pandering to idiots.

IMO: Any politician that causes job loss through bills they submit/pass should be IMPEACHED = forever banned from any elected office.

Tricky predicament - to be an employed bartender who ultimately has to have a lung removed courtesy of long-term smoke exposure, or to be an unemployed bartender with two good lungs who might, just might, find alternate employment.

How was that calculated? What changes in business patronage are caused by this bill? Smokers don't go out? Smokers go out but not as often? Smokers drive to neighboring states to light up their Marlboros?

I would like to have a chance to go out and have a nice dinner without having to endure cigarette smoke from some mindless slob at the next table who just has to have a cigarette with his post-dinner coffee. Yes, I know all about smoking and non-smoking sections in such places. I also know that they often don't do the intended job.

I really don't care if a smoker wants to turn his lungs black. Just leave my lungs alone.

Good move on the part of the bar owners of Michigan. I would also like to applaud the Nevada State Legislature for reversing the previous (and unpopular) smoking legislation. Now whether to have smoking or not in an establishment is, as it should be, up to the management of that establishment.

BTW, there are two non-smoking bars in Carson City. I have visited both and they have excellent drink selections, better than most of the other bars in town. I suspect this is the reason for their continued existence.
